Abstract

The Ramadhan Da’wah Safari is a form of da’wah bil hal—a practical approach to preaching—that serves as a platform for students to apply their Islamic knowledge through community service. This program was organized by the Sister Mutohhirot Team of STIBA Ar-Raayah in Yogyakarta City, from March 20–29, 2025, featuring various activities such as distributing dates, teaching at Qur’an Learning Centers (TPA), renewing mosque bulletin boards, collecting community data, and conducting social programs like iftar jama’i (communal breaking of fast). This article aims to describe the implementation of the Ramadhan Da’wah Safari as a means of strengthening Islamic values, fostering community development, and providing students with practical learning experiences in preaching within an urban context. This study employs a qualitative approach with descriptive-narrative methods. Data were collected through field observations, informal interviews with residents and participants, and documentation of activities conducted throughout the Safari program. The analysis was carried out inductively, interpreting meanings, community responses, and the overall impact on strengthening spirituality and social solidarity. The findings show that the Ramadhan Da’wah Safari had a significant impact on enhancing the community’s religious enthusiasm, particularly in enlivening the spirit of worship during the holy month. Activities such as children’s Qur’an classes and collective tadarrus fostered Islamic education, while social initiatives like sharing iftar meals and cleaning mosques nurtured social empathy. Moreover, students gained first-hand experience in preaching with wisdom and compassion, in line with the message of Surah An-Nahl (16:125), which calls for da’wah to be delivered with wisdom and good counsel. In conclusion, the Ramadhan Da’wah Safari stands as a tangible example of synergy between Islamic higher education and community empowerment—realizing a form of da’wah that is practical, balanced, and deeply impactful.
