Abstract

Arabic language learning as a second language for non-native learners presents complex challenges, particularly in mastering nahwu and sharaf as morphosyntactic foundations. This study aims to comparatively analyze the effectiveness of integrated and separated nahwu-sharaf instruction for beginner learners based exclusively on documented research findings. Employing a qualitative approach through comparative literature analysis, the study reveals that integrated instruction enhances contextual understanding, learner engagement, and practical language application (Afandi et al., 2024; Akzam & Zubaidah, 2024; Ali & Sopian, 2018), while separated instruction strengthens structural mastery and grammatical accuracy (Aini & Anisha, 2023; Rahman & Hamzah, 2025). However, grammar-centered instruction lacking integration with language skills reduces motivation and communicative competence (Bahri, 2015). The study concludes that an integrative model combining traditional and innovative elements is more appropriate for non-native beginner learners.
