Islam dan Pendidikan: dalam Revolusi Masyarakat Arab Periode Madinah
Main Article Content
Abstract
The society of Medina was built on Islamic principles that prioritize unity, justice, and prosperity. One of the main instruments in achieving this vision was education. The Prophet's Mosque not only functioned as a place of worship, but also became a center of education where the companions and Muslims studied Islamic teachings. This is where the first generation of Muslims were born who had a deep understanding of religion, ethics, and science. Education in Medina was not limited to spiritual teachings alone, but encompassed various aspects of life. The Prophet Muhammad SAW encouraged the development of knowledge in various fields, including social sciences, politics, economics, and law. In the society of Medina, education was also seen as the right of every individual, regardless of their social status, which reflects the Islamic teachings of equality and justice. This can be seen from the involvement of women in the education process, such as Aisha RA who was known as one of the narrators of hadith and an expert in knowledge. The educational revolution in Medina created an educated society that was able to face the challenges of the times. Education is an important tool in creating collective awareness and realizing the ideals of a society based on monotheism, justice, and common prosperity. The revolution of the Medina community through education then became a model that inspired the development of Islamic civilization in various parts of the world, with education as the main pillar in building an advanced and sustainable civilization.
