Abstract
Khat merupakan salah satu cabang dari ilmu kaligrafi yang membahas akan bagaimana melukis arab indah serta kaidah menggoreskan huruf demi huruf dengan baik dan benar. Khat sering menjadi sorotan, terutama di kalangan mahasiswa dan dosen prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Arab lantaran berfungsi sebagai media pembelajaran berbasis estetika dan seni yang diharapkan dapat memacu semangat peserta didik dalam mempelajari bahasa arab. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis bagaimana mata kuliah khat dapat mempengaruhi kompetensi maharah kitabah (menulis) mahasiswa S1 PBA UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan antara lain adalah metode kuesioner dan observasi. Setelah melakukan riset mendalam mengenai pendapat para responden, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa mata kuliah wajib tersebut memiliki peranan penting bagi peningkatan kompetensi maharah kitabah mahasiswa dan masih ada mahasiswa yang menilai bahwa khat kurang sesuai jika dijadikan mata kuliah wajib lantaran kurang sesuai dengan passion sebagian besar mahasiswa
